Art Basel Hong Kong
Hong Kong might seem an odd location for an international art fair but everyone wants to tap into the Asian market and Basel seems to have a crystal ball when it comes to developing the next big market. Though the Hong Kong art fair has gone on for a number of years, [...]

Destroy the Picture: Painting the Void at the MCA Chicago
Destroy the Picture: Painting the Void 1949-1962 has been on my list of shows to see for awhile and on Mother’s Day with my parents in town, I finally had a reason to motivate.
In 1949 after the “apocalyptic aftermath of WWII Adorno said ‘to write poetry [...]

Frieze NY

Highlights from Frieze New York:

The opening included a performance by The Black [...]

Picasso and Chicago at the Art Institute

Picasso never even came to Chicago, or the United States for that matter. But his relationship to Chicago had a profound impact on the city and also played a “critical role in the awareness of and interest in art across the United States.” The first presentation of a Picasso show at an American art museum, [...]

Dan Flavin installation at Richmond Hall

There is a wonderful surprise at The Menil Collection in Houston if you follow a path just a hop skip and a jump from the main museum–a Dan Flavin installation. It is one of the artist’s final works and one of his few permanent installations in the United States. The de Menil’s began collecting his [...]
